How to find a place
How to find Somewhere to Stay
Fortunately (for you, at least) the rental
market in Canberra is very slack at the moment, so finding somewhere
won't be difficult. There are a number of options.
- It's often worth trying the
Australian National University
housing office (how much they can help will depend on the housing
situation for their own students at the time).
- You can also try the
University of Canberra, though it's a fair way from ADFA.
- The Canberra Times is the main Canberra newspaper, and has
a useful real estate section (rentals and for-sales )
- There are any number of commercial real estate agents who can help, or you
could try
- The academy's own
weekly bulletin often includes advertisements for leases,
particularly for academics on leave, or service people leaving on a posting
Landlords in Canberra often require references before agreeing to a lease. This
can be difficult, particularly for overseas students; if this is an issue,
you should contact ??, who may be able to assist.
